Eragon
In the land of Alagäesia, there was once a mighty group called the Riders. These Riders were bonded to dragons, and with the help of their dragons, the Riders protected Alagäesia from evil. All of that changed when one selfish Rider, Galbatorix, destroyed the system. He betrayed the Riders and crowned himself King of Alagäesia.
This was 100 years ago.
Eragon, a small farmboy from Palancar Valley was hunting when he encountered a strange blue stone in the woods. Things got even stranger when the stone, which was really an egg, hatched into the dragon Saphira. Eragon attempted to hide the constantly-growing Saphira from Eragon's Uncle Garrow, but things went horribly wrong. Garrow's farm was burned to the ground by the mysterious Ra'zac, and Garrow passed.
Eragon and Saphira, with the help of Brom the storyteller, leave Carvahall in search of the Ra'zac. They find them in Helgrind, but the Ra'zac manage to capture Eragon, Saphira, and Brom. Just as they are about to kill Eragon, a strange swordsman saves them. Murtagh is his name, and he helps heal Eragon. The two try to heal Brom, but his wounds are too great. Brom dies.
Murtagh and Eragon continue where Brom and Eragon had been headed- The Varden. The Varden was the only place where Eragon and Saphira could possibly learn how to be Rider and dragon.
